AM 9:00h to 12:00 h approx. Gaudí Plus

The "Gaudí Plus" Tour has three main points of interest:

The Batlló House:
Little did Mr. Batlló knew when he commissioned A. Gaudí to renovate his family residence on Passeig de Gràcia. The result, one of Gaudí visually most impressive works, went well over his expectations.
Beyond the esthetics, the comfort of the Batllós' home was greatly improved by added light wells, increased space in the main rooms, temperature control through air inlets to be opened and closed according to the seasons of the year, beautifully stained glass windows to dim and enrich the natural light flooding the main rooms and a lot more.
A must-see landmark!

Güell Pavilions:
Named after Eusebi Güell, Gaudí’s close friend and patron –he commissioned to Gaudí other important projects like his main residence, the Güell Palace, the Güell Park and the next main point of interest of this tour: the Crypt of the Güell Colony Church- these pavilions were meant to accommodate the caretaker´s home and the stables. The pavilions are united by an impressive gate of wrought iron featuring a dragon evoking Saing George.

Crypt of the Güell Colony Church:
The industrial colony promoted by Güell in the outskirts of Barcelona could not lack a church, which was commissioned to Gaudí. Gaudí conceived a grandiose church resting upon a hollow space: the crypt. The complex structural solutions he had to develop were a test run for his most cherished work: the Sagrada Familia. Only the crypt was actually built; its strangely shaped brick and basalt columns are truly unique.

  Lunch Break

On you own: you will be within walking distance of Psg. de Gràcia, the Ramblas and Catalunya square which feature a wide offering of eateries.

PM (15:15h to 18:15h approx.) Gaudí Tour

Gaudí’s works deserve a dedicated tour: from the departure point you will first drive up Passeig de Gràcia to the appetizers: Milà and Batlló houses (by Gaudí), surrounded by other major works of leading Art Nouveau architects such as Morera and Ametller houses.

The first stop will be Park Güell, located at the foot of the hills surrounding the city; your tour guide will take advantage of the drive to give you background information about Gaudí’s life and works.

Once at the Güell park, your tour guide will take you for a pleasant guided walking tour of the Güell Park. Commissioned by Güell and conceived by Gaudí as a Garden City, the Güell Park did not sell and eventually became a public park in 1922.

From there a short drive will take you to Barcelona’s main monument and Gaudí’s masterpiece: the Sagrada Familia Church; skipping the long lines and the crowds, your guide will take you for an interior visit of this unique unfinished church soon to be consecrated.
Deeply religious, Gaudí poured in the Sagrada Familia all his talent and expertise.

After a detailed guided tour of the Sagrada Familia, you will have several options:

  • Linger at the Sagrada Familia to climb the towers, take more photos or shop for a few souvenirs
  • Be taken back to the Gaudí Combo Tour starting point on Catalonia Square.
